Tips 

  • Some schools are peanut and other nut allergy free. This means you cannot pack any items containing nuts (peanut butter, trail mix, etc.) with your child.
  • If the school is peanut friendly, uncrustablesLinks to an external site. are a great alternative to making peanut butter and jelly everyday, 
  • Buy bulk if possible. This will be the cheapest option for packing lunch everyday. 
    • Individually bag items to save money.
  • Have pre-bagged itemsLinks to an external site. on hand incase you are running late and don't have time to bag snacks (chips, fruit snacks).
  • Peel and cut any food items. Lunch times are short, so your child may not have time to peel an orange. 
  • Fridges and microwaves aren't available.
  • Dairy items are great sources of protein and convenience.
    • A yogurt, hard boiled egg, lunch meat and cheese is a healthy alternative to a pb&j, chips, and fruit snacks. 
  • Ask your child's teacher what they suggest to pack for lunches, drinks, and snacks!
