Everyone experiences stress, and it may be good for some of us. Stress is the bodies response to changes in life and allows us to adapt. It's also the bodies way of protecting itself from harm. However, too much stress can harm our relationships and health.
Identifying your stressors can have a big impact on your overall health. Stressors may also be external, such as physical abuse, stressful work environments, or family relates issues. Tools that help with stress include:
- develop coping skills for anxiety
- identify and let go of things you cannot change, things that are out of your control
- exercise to let go of built-up anxiety and other feelings
- eat a balanced diet
Develop a routine to lessen tension. To observe Stress Awareness Day, go for a walk, practice deep breathing, exercise, get a massage, or take a long bath. Allow time to check-in with yourself and your feelings today. As a reminder, Interstaff offers multiple resources if you are feeling stressed, overwhelmed, anxious, sad, and/or depressed.
